7 Reasons to Learn Strokes

As parents, we all want our kids to have basic survival skills in the water, to know how to float and how to safely get out of a pool or swim to shallow water if they were to fall in accidentally. But what about learning freestyle or backstroke? What does it matter if our kids continue in their swimming lessons beyond survival basics?

At Swim Kids Waco, we work with kids to develop them into strong and skilled swimmers. When kids learn real strokes, they are being equipped to do things like:

  1. Pass a camp swim test

  2. Safely swim in a lake, ocean or river

  3. Join a swim team

  4. Become a lifeguard

  5. Compete in a triathlon

  6. Help others who are in danger in the water

  7. Develop whole body strength, endurance and coordination through the life-long sport of swimming

Whether these things are in the immediate future or years down the road, you’re creating these options for them when you continue swimming lessons beyond Level 1 or 1.5.

Our stroke development program (Level 2+) prepares kids for life as adults who can enjoy and stay safe not just in pools but in any body of water and enjoy this wonderful gift for sport, exercise and leisure .
